The Los Angeles Times and the recently created L.A. Times Guild secured a tentative labor agreement after 15 months of negotiating, the union announced Oct. 16.
The historic three-year agreement includes an immediate 12.5% boost to the company’s overall payroll, which translates to an average raise of $11,000 for bargaining unit employees, according to the union. Almost every covered employee will receive at least a 5% first-year wage increase with raises of at least 2.5% in the following two years of the contract.
About 200 people will receive raises of at least $10,000, the union said.
