LA City Attorney Backs California Worker Classification Law

Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer (D) submitted a proposed amicus curiae brief to a California federal court, highlighting the city’s interest in the state’s ongoing battle with the California trucking industry over a worker classification law that will take effect Jan. 1, 2020.

Over 14,000 drivers work in Los Angeles’ thriving trucking industry, which is crucial to transporting the enormous amount of U.S. imports arriving through ports in Los Angeles and Long Beach, Feur said, and the City Attorney’s Office has a duty to police unfair business practices like employee misclassification.
