L3 to Pay 254-Member Class Settlement for Background Checks

L3 Technologies Inc. and subsidiary L3 Unidyne Inc. will pay $275,000 to settle claims it didn’t provide compliant disclosures to job applicants before it obtained background checks, following a judge’s final approval.

There are 254 former applicants set to receive payouts, Judge Marilyn L. Huff said in a Jan. 9 order. The class includes applicants who say they didn’t receive notices that comply with a Fair Credit Reporting Act requirement that an employer notify someone that it plans to obtain a background check in a standalone disclosure.
