Kushner Pitch to Chinese Investors Spurs Grassley to Seek New Rules

Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) asked the Department of Homeland Security to clamp down on fraud and abuse in the immigrant investor program, the senator announced May 11.

The Senate Judiciary Committee chairman’s May 10 letter to DHS Secretary John Kelly comes in the wake of reported statements by Nicole Kushner Meyer, the sister of White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, to potential Chinese investors. Some attendees of the meeting in Beijing claimed that Meyer, speaking on behalf of the Kushner Company, suggested that her brother’s position would help them get the visas, Grassley said.
