Kroger Worker Loses Suit Against Franchisor Over Mass Shooting

A Kroger Co. employee injured in a mass shooting at the store lost his liability lawsuit against the franchisor of the sushi bar where the gunman worked.

Jonathan Fernald failed to allege that the shooting was foreseeable to JFE Franchising, Inc., doing business as Snowfox, or that JFE had a duty to him to take actions to prevent it, the US District Court for the Western District of Tennessee ruled Thursday.
