More than 1,000 part-time Kroger employees in southeastern Michigan will gain full-time status under a pair of union contracts, and 15,000 full-and part-time company workers in the region will get annual wage increases.
When the contracts take effect March 26, about 1,300 workers classified as part-time will be reclassified as full-time and will be eligible to work 40 hours per week, Larissa Flora, a spokeswoman for United Food and Commercial Workers Local 876, told Bloomberg BNA March 17. More full-time positions also will be created over the contracts’ four-year term, she said.
