Kaiser Permanente workers in California and Hawaii overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new contract that includes increased staffing levels and higher wages following a nearly month-long work stoppage.
The United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals members voted to approve a three-year agreement that included the “largest wage increases” the union had ever achieved. The contract covers 31,000 Kaiser employees.
The ratification comes after Kaiser health care workers in California and Hawaii walked off the job earlier this year, demanding improved staffing levels as well as higher pay and benefits.
