Kaiser $1.4M Wage Settlement Rejected For Giving Up Too Much

A California federal court rejected a proposed wage settlement in a suit brought by call-center workers against Kaiser, saying the agreement forces class members to release all federal and some California claims without separate compensation.

Monica Smith, a telemedicine specialist for Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in San Diego, filed a nationwide hybrid class and collective action in December 2017. Smith alleges Kaiser failed to properly compensate her and others for various work-related tasks and business expenses, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and California labor law.
