Justices Reject Review of Taxpayer Lawsuit Against Union Policy

The US Supreme Court declined to ponder whether taxpayers have standing to sue a Minnesota school district and a teachers union over a policy that gives teachers paid leave for union work.

The justices let stand Monday a divided US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit decision that permitted the lawsuit from three district residents who are represented by a conservative advocacy group. The residents have standing as municipal taxpayers, the appeals court held.
