Jurors in Uber Black Trial Fail to Agree on Unanimous Verdict

A federal jury in Pennsylvania was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on whether three drivers for Uber Technologies Inc.'s luxury car service were misclassified as independent contractors.

After a five-day trial and nearly two days of deliberations, jurors in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Tuesday were divided on whether certain factors pointed to employee or independent contractor status. Only employees are entitled to minimum wage and overtime pay protections granted by federal and state laws.
