June Gig Economy Report Won’t Have App Data

The Labor Department next month will release its first report on the gig economy workforce in 13 years.

The last survey by the DOL’s Bureau of Labor Statistics on the gig economy workforce was in 2005. The new report, slated to be released June 7, will include information like workforce size, demographics, and foothold in industries. The report won’t include survey results on app-based employment, officials said in a written statement.
