A group of air ambulance providers earned a key victory after a Connecticut federal judge ruled that courts can enforce awards won through surprise billing arbitration.
The May 14 decision in the US District Court for the District of Connecticut widens a federal court split over whether the No Surprises Act creates a private remedy for doctors to sue when insurance companies don’t pay. Courts have so far mostly concluded there is no right to sue, but at least one judge in New Jersey concluded that courts can confirm the awards.
