Judge Rejects as Intrusive Discovery Request In Race Discrimination Case Against DHL

CHICAGO—A federal judge in Chicago has rejected an extensive discovery request from DHL Express Inc. as it defends a class-based discrimination suit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, finding the shipping giant’s demands “overly broad and intrusive’’ (EEOC v. DHL Express USA Inc.).

In a separate order pertaining to discovery issues, the same judge ordered DHL to supplement an earlier document production in good faith after EEOC argued that the company had produced “an unmanageable amount of data in a manner that contravenes Federal Rules’’ (EEOC v. DHL Express USA Inc.).
