The US Department of Labor threw out election complaints filed by a former presidential candidate for the United Auto Workers without sufficient reason, a federal court in Michigan ruled.
While Judge David Lawson of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan didn’t address the substance of the complaints, he ordered the department to re-review them more carefully.
The ruling issued Tuesday is unlikely to change the outcome of the 2022 vote, but offers a rare example of the courts rebuking DOL’s watchdog efforts.
