Judge Overstepped When Ordering Pay Data Collection: DOJ (1)

The judge who revived a controversial pay reporting requirement for more than 60,000 employers exceeded her authority by dictating how and when the government should collect that data, the Justice Department told a federal appeals court in Washington.

Additionally, workers’ rights groups weren’t harmed by a Trump administration decision to halt the Obama-era pay data collection and thus couldn’t bring a lawsuit to reinstate it, the DOJ said in an Aug. 19 brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
