JPMorgan Scores Dismissal of Job Seeker’s AI Lie Detector Claims

JPMorgan Chase Bank NA convinced a federal court to dismiss a rejected job applicant’s claims under Massachusetts’ lie detector law over the company’s use of an artificial intelligence program.

The proposed class action addressed whether an AI-powered job candidate screening tool runs afoul of a Massachusetts law that makes it illegal for an employer to use any “device, mechanism, instrument or written examination” as a de facto lie detector test as a condition of employment.
