JPMorgan, Michaels Settle California Pay Data Reports Lawsuit

JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A. and Michaels Stores Inc. will collectively pay over $23,000 to settle a California Civil Rights Department lawsuit over failing to comply with a state pay data reporting requirement, the agency announced Friday.

The settlement marks the first enforcement action for the pay data reporting requirement since it was enacted in 2020.

The agency, formerly known the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, filed the suit against the companies in May and June of this year in Alameda County Superior Court for failing to file reports for 2020 by the March 2021 deadline.
