Female lawyers accusing Jones Day of nationwide pay discrimination knew their sex bias claims lacked factual support yet continued to baselessly pursue them anyway, the firm told the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Friday.
Doubling down on its Dec. 6 motion to have the proposed class claims of Nilab Tolton and five other women dismissed as a sanction, the firm said it didn’t seek that extreme remedy lightly. It brought the motion only when it became clear the women and their counsel hadn’t asserted their claims in good faith, Jones Day said in a reply brief.
