‘Joint Employer’ Comment Period Extended by Labor Board (1)

The National Labor Relations Board extended the deadline to file comments on a plan to change its legal standard for determining when multiple companies share joint liability for labor law violations.

The new cutoff for public comment is Dec. 13, a 30-day extension, the agency said Oct. 30.

The move came in response to a request by Democratic lawmakers and a number of large unions, including the AFL-CIO, for a 60-day extension. Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and other lawmakers have also asked the board to schedule public hearings on the proposal, but the NLRB denied that request.
