Job Corps Centers to Begin Phased Reopening Oct. 20, DOL Says

Job Corps centers providing year-round housing and vocational training for thousands of at-risk youths will gradually reopen campuses starting Oct. 20 if health and safety standards are met, the Labor Department said Friday.

The announcement comes after students, contractors who operate the residential centers, lawmakers, and others involved in the nationwide program complained that Job Corps has struggled to keep participants connected to the curriculum since the coronavirus pandemic forced DOL to shutter nearly all on-campus activities in March.
