Jan-Pro, Janitors Win Final Nod for $30 Million Wage Suit Deal

Jan-Pro Franchising International Inc. and janitors who say it misclassified them as contractors when they were really employees secured final approval Thursday for a $30 million settlement after nearly two decades of litigation.

The settlement fund represents a little more than half of what the workers could have recovered in a damages trial, which is an “excellent result” given the years of litigation, including trips to multiple appellate courts, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.
