Ivanka Trump Meets With GOP Lawmakers to Craft Paid Leave Plan

Just one day after Democrats unveiled their proposal for national paid family leave, White House senior adviser and first daughter Ivanka Trump met with Republicans to discuss potential alternatives.

Trump met with Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and Mike Lee (R-Utah) on Feb. 13. The GOP lawmakers in the last year all have participated in hearings about paid leave, discussed the issue, or crafted paid leave legislation.
