IT Recruiter Settles DOJ Allegations of Bias Against US Workers

Recruiters for a New York-based IT staffing company engaged in a pattern of discrimination against US citizens, a Department of Justice investigation found.

As part of a settlement agreement the DOJ announced Wednesday, Amtex Systems Inc. will pay a $15,604 penalty and remove any reference to citizenship status, immigration status, or visa category in its job advertisements.

After an April 2021 complaint, a Justice Department investigation found that recruiters working on behalf of Amtex in India emailed job ads with discriminatory preferences for applicants and refused to consider at least two applicants who were US citizens, according to the agency ...
