Intuit and Ebay Sept. 3 received final approval of their $3.75 million settlement of the state of California’s claims that the two companies illegally agreed not to hire each other’s employees (California v. eBay, Inc., N.D. Cal., 5:12-cv-05874-EJD, 9/3/15).
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California concluded that the settlement of the state’s parens patriae claims on behalf of consumers is fair and adequate. Only about 15 percent of potential claimants, employees of the two tech companies whose wages were allegedly depressed by the “no-poaching” agreement among employers, filed claims.
