Intertape Polymer’s Work Rules Violate Labor Law, NLRB Says

An adhesive tape maker maintained a handful of unlawful rules and must relitigate challenges to some of its other workplace mandates under a newer legal standard, the National Labor Relations Board ruled.

Intertape Polymer Corp.’s rules prohibiting workers from loitering on company property, being on the premises outside of their shift, distributing written material, and posting notices or signs violate federal labor law, the NLRB held Friday.

The board also found that a ban on the use of company phones for personal calls without permission was lawful.
