Injuries to workers driving to job sites outside their regular commutes may need to be recorded in OSHA-mandated logs if the trip is made at the employer’s request, the agency says.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has long said that normal commutes to and from work aren’t part of a workday. Injuries during those commutes aren’t considered work related for the agency’s recordkeeping requirements. But, a recently issued recordkeeping rule interpretation letter clarifies there are times when travel between home and a job site is work-related.
