HZ Ops Holdings, Inc., doing business as Popeyes, will pay $30,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, the agency said in a statement Wednesday.
The EEOC alleged that the Gary, Ind., Popeyes violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by firing a new hire with a learning disability after first refusing to allow her to train for a food-preparation position with her job coach present. The fast-food restaurant also never scheduled her to work, according to the agency.
