Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained 133 illegal workers and issued arrest warrants for 17 individuals across Nebraska and Minnesota in a series of enforcement raids at agricultural producers accused of colluding to create and exploit an illegal workforce.
The Aug. 8 action took place against the backdrop of increased immigration enforcement by the Trump administration, which includes more raids carried out by ICE agents. The agency indicated earlier this year that it would quadruple or even quintuple the agency’s work-site enforcement efforts.
