Immigration Lawyers Seek Answers for USCIS Backlogs

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services senior leaders need to answer for increasing backlogs in processing immigration benefits, including employment visas and work permit applications, the American Immigration Lawyers Association said March 11.

“Though AILA and other stakeholders have raised these concerns on a number of occasions, USCIS has failed to provide an adequate explanation as to how or why these problems develop or to describe how it plans to resolve the backlogs, and when the public can expect to see processing times return to normal,” AILA Executive Director Ben Johnson said in a letter to USCIS Director León Rodríguez.
