Illinois Will Replace Any Workplace Safety Rules Trump Repeals

Illinois’s labor agency will replace any repealed federal workplace safety standard with its own version, pushing back on the Trump administration’s efforts to cut regulations.

Gov. JB Pritzker (D) signed into law three pieces of legislation that look to preserve worker protections amid President Donald Trump’s efforts to withdraw or rewrite dozens of regulations. One—the Illinois Workers’ Rights and Safety Act—enshrined the worker protections granted under the Occupational Safety and Health Act as well as the Coal Mine Health and Safety Act.
