A measure to increase the Illinois hourly minimum wage to $15 by 2025 was signed Feb. 19 by Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D).
The bill (S.B. 1) was passed Feb. 14 by the legislature.
The measure raised the state’s hourly minimum wage for workers older than 18 in incremental increases from $8.25. The wage would rise to $9.25 on Jan. 1, 2020; $10 on July 1, 2020; $11 on Jan. 1, 2021; $12 on Jan. 1, 2022; $13 on Jan. 1, 2023; $14 on Jan. 1, 2024; and $15 on Jan. 1, 2025.
