Icon International Settles Former Worker’s Sex, Age Bias Claims

Icon International Inc. will no longer face the sex and age discrimination claims of a fired employee who alleged that her ex-direct supervisor frequently berated female employees and refused to offer them “crucial support and guidance.”

Judge Melissa Damian of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Thursday dismissed marketing professional Michelle LaBarbera’s case against the financial services company after a “full,” mediated settlement in the case was reached Aug. 14. Damian gave LaBarbera the option to refile her suit at a later date.
