Striking Stop & Shop Workers Rally Before Biden Appearance (1)

Former Vice President Joe Biden told hundreds of striking Stop & Shop union members and supporters in Boston April 18 that without good health care and wages “you cannot live a middle-class life.”

“Wages have gone up very little. Productivity has gone up exponentially. And where are you sitting? The same place you’ve been before,” Biden said to cheers from the audience.

The rally brought out some of the 31,000 members of the United Food and Commercial Workers locals who went on strike April 11. Members of other local unions also attended the rally.
