A group of over 500 doctors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners have formed the biggest single unit of organized doctors in the US with a Oct. 16 vote to unionize.
The 589 workers employed by the Allina Health System elected to be represented by the Doctors Council, an affiliate of the Service Employees International Union, on a 325-200 vote. The members are spread across 62 family and urgent care clinics in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
