Houston School District Paid Women Less Than Men, EEOC Suit Says

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is accusing the Houston Independent School District of discriminating against female employees by paying them less than men even though they performed equal work, the agency announced Thursday.

Since 2019, the school district has paid lower wages to a class of female senior career and technical education program specialists than it paid to male senior CTE program specialists despite their substantially equal skill and similar working conditions, according to an EEOC lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
