H.J. Res. 79 is 232-183 - NOTE: On Jan. 27, Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the ERA after Democrats assumed the majority in both chambers of the state legislature
- The deadline passed in 1982, though Nevada ratified the amendment in 2017, and Illinois approved it in 2018
