House Spending Bill Would Require New EEOC Pay-Data Plan (1)

A House spending bill covering the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission would require the workplace civil rights agency to come up with a new plan for collecting worker pay data from employers, raising an ongoing issue that some worker advocates view as a first step toward closing race and gender pay gaps.

The Fiscal 2021 spending measure includes report language crafted by House Appropriations Committee Democrats that also would mandate that the agency analyze pay data it has collected for fiscal 2017 and 2018, and make the results public.
