House Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg announced a measure that would make changes to a law authorizing worker training programs.
Walberg (R-Mich.), is seeking to alter a 2014 law, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. His legislation would move some adult learning programs run by the Department of Education over to the Department of Labor, furthering a Trump administration goal of shifting programs away from the Education Department.
The measure would also dedicate funding for upskilling programs called “individual training accounts” and other “employer-led” educational programs.
