House Passes Funding Package as Defense, Abortion Fights Loom

House lawmakers passed a seven-bill spending package Thursday that would support key Biden administration proposals including the creation of a Civilian Climate Corps and an advanced research agency for health, leaving key fights over defense spending and abortion for later.

The House voted 219-208 along party lines in favor of a spending package (H.R. 4502) with a combined $597.7 billion in discretionary budget authority that largely aligned with President Joe Biden’s proposals.

The package includes funds for agencies and programs covered by the Agriculture-FDA, Energy and Water, Financial Services, Interior-Environment, Labor-HHS-Education, Military Construction-VA, and Transportation-HUD spending bills. ...
