House Panel Votes to Advance Changes to Tipped Wage, Paid Leave

A House committee approved a trio of bills Thursday that would alter laws on the tipped wage and overtime compensation, as well as let employers fix wage and hour violations without the Labor Department’s enforcement.

The bills passed through the House Education and Workforce committee along party lines, with minimal debate. The legislation advances as the DOL is poised to kick-start its policy-making and enforcement initiatives following the month-long government shutdown.
