House Panel Advances Bill to Help DOL Detect Human Trafficking

The House labor panel has advanced a bipartisan bill to assist the Labor Department in detecting labor and sexual exploitation cases when inspecting workplaces.

The Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act (H.R. 443) moved out of the Committee on Education and the Workforce Wednesday by a unanimous vote and will head to the House floor. Under the bill, the secretary of labor would be required to implement a program that provides periodic training on how to detect and assist law enforcement in cracking down on human trafficking.
