House Democrats are likely to push for an overhaul of federal workforce training programs that boosts funding and expands opportunities for workers as part of “future of work” legislative recommendations the conference plans to roll out next year.
Congress needs to reshape workforce programs to help workers at risk of further displacement from automation and emerging technology, Rep. Susan Davis (D-Calif.), chairwoman of an Education and Labor subcommittee, said at a Dec. 18 hearing. That may include ponying up more funds to improve existing programs.
