House Democrats Seek Probe of DOL Benefits Council’s Inactivity

House Democrats want the Department of Labor’s internal watchdog to investigate whether the agency is breaking the law by not convening a statutorily-mandated advisory board on employee benefits issues.

House Education and the Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-Va.) and Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) sent a letter Tuesday to DOL Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito raising concerns about the inactivity of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council.
