House Democrats Moving to Nix Trump-Era EEOC Conciliation Rule

Two bills focused on fighting bias in the workplace, including a measure to repeal a Trump-era regulation from the federal government’s workplace civil rights agency, are now primed for votes by the full House.

The Trump-era U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission rule altered the agency’s conciliation process, which is a means of resolving disputes over allegations of workplace bias after the agency has determined an employer discriminated against an employee, but before the EEOC may pursue litigation. The agency can sue an employer after determining bias occurred, unless both the employer and worker come to an agreement.
