Curbs on Nondisclosure Pacts for #MeToo Claims Clear House (1)

The House passed a bill that would nullify some nondisclosure agreements when employees allege sexual harassment or assault, a landmark measure tackling those pacts on a federal level.

The Speak Out Act (S. 4524) cleared the chamber in a 315-109 vote Wednesday, after passing the Senate by unanimous consent in September. The measure now heads to President Joe Biden, just months after Congress passed the so-called #MeToo bill (H.R. 4445) that banned mandatory arbitration for workplace sexual harassment and assault claims, making it easier for victims to pursue lawsuits in court.
