Houlihan’s Owner to Pay $5M to Settle Wage Claims

The owner-operator of 17 Houlihan’s restaurants in New Jersey and New York agreed to pay $5 million in back wages and damages to 1,471 workers in a U.S. Labor Department minimum wage and overtime case.

A.C.E. Restaurant Group Inc. of Saddle Brook, N.J., A.C.E. Restaurant Group of New York LLC, and owner Arnold Runestad entered into a DOL settlement agreement filed April 2 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The DOL accused them in October 2015 of “pervasive skimming from employees’ tips and wages” in a Fair Labor Standards Act civil lawsuit.
