Saint Clare’s Health will pay $77,550 and provide other relief to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit, the EEOC announced Thursday.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged that Saint Clare’s Health violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when it withdrew a job offer to a pregnant applicant for a per diem EMS dispatcher position at its Dover, N.J., facility. The candidate requested to delay her start date after being hospitalized for a pregnancy complication known as preeclampsia, causing the unlawful withdrawal of her job offer, according to the agency.
