Honeywell Hit With Fired Christian Worker’s Bias-Training Suit

Honeywell International Inc. allegedly failed to accommodate a worker’s Christian religious beliefs and fired him after he refused to participate in a mandatory training on unconscious bias.

The company didn’t give the worker an alternative training after he notified Honeywell that the presentation on unconscious bias—the idea that people can unintentionally make judgments about others based on immutable characteristics such as race or sexual orientation—conflicted with his religious belief that people “may harbor no biases,” according to a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
