Home Warranty Company Settles $175,000 Discrimination Lawsuit

Pivotal Home Solutions of Naperville, Ill., will pay $175,000 to settle a US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission disability discrimination lawsuit, the agency said Thursday.

Though her condition didn’t affect her work, the company allegedly terminated an employee after she expressed that she was taking medication to treat her post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety, the EEOC said.

The alleged conduct is in violation of Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Pivotal Home Solutions is also forbidden from retaliation and is required to update company policies, said the agency.

The case is (EEOC v. Pivotal Home Solutions, LLC, N.D. Ill., No. 1:21-cv-04978, 10/12/22
