Home Depot Workers in Philadelphia File for Union Election

A group of Home Depot workers in Philadelphia has filed for a union election with the federal labor board.

The union petition filed Monday includes 274 merchandising, specialty, and operations associates. It’s organizing under the name Home Depot Workers United, according to a National Labor Relations Board filing.

Home Depot is largely nonunion. It beat back attempts to organize three stores in Michigan, California, and New York in the early 2000s. The company operates 2,000 stores in the US.

The company didn’t respond to requests for comment on the latest effort.
